How do you turn on Find My iPhone?

Start in Settings on the iPhone you are setting up. Apple setup steps.

  2. Select Find My.
  3. Tap Find My iPhone, then enable that switch.

What do the two optional controls do?

The two optional Find My controls address different conditions: an offline device and a critically low battery. Neither is a promise of future recovery. Apple's explanation.

  • Find My network: This setting is for finding an iPhone that is not connected to Wi-Fi or cellular. Review whether you want it enabled; it does not promise a current location or recovery. Apple iPhone User Guide.
